GSEAA & NIEER Invite you: Play Then and Now
A Narrative Study of Early Childhood Teachers’ Play Histories and Practices
Date: March 4, 2021
Join 2020 Dissertation Awardee Dr. Katelyn Clark as she explores the issues surrounding the importance of developmental play for young children. Knowing that play is a central principle of early childhood education, Clark explores why many teachers struggle to keep play as the central focus in their classrooms, and what motivates teachers to fight for play to be a supported component in school curriculum and environments, and interestingly, how personal childhood experiences of play inform those choices.
Date: March 12th at 2:00PM
Helping Children Process Trauma: How do I help children process COVID 19 or other traumas?
Come have an open discussion revolving around trauma informed care for young children. Explore different ways that trauma manifests in children’s behavior and identify ways to mediate the impacts of stress and trauma. We will learn how trauma may impact developmental trajectories and participants will walk away with strategies that will help children cope and build resiliency.
