2019 Month of the Young Child Grant Appication

Invites all current members to apply for a grant to help fund your 2019 Month of the Young Child Event

NJAEYC is offering a grant (up to $500) to encourage NJAEYC members to organize activities for MOYC. The event should promote awareness of young children, their families, and the early childhood programs that serve them.

Grants will be awarded to selected NJAEYC members for their celebration planned for Month of the Young Child during April 2019. Non-members may join at www.naeyc.org/membership in order to apply for this grant.

Please submit the attached application and your event flyer by March 7, 2019 for consideration. Successful applicants will be notified by March 31, 2019.

By signing the application the recipient acknowledges that any funds received from NJAEYC will be used for a MOYC activity. Any funds that remain will be returned to NJAEYC. If approved, the recipient will submit a final report, including pictures by May5, 2019. Reports and photos may be used on the NJAEYC website.

Ocean Chapter NJAEYC 2019 Winter Conference

Date: Saturday, February 9, 2019
Time: 8:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
Location: Westminster Nursery School 1070 Hooper Ave, Toms River, NJ 08753
Cost: $20 NJAEYC members, $40 non-members Register by 1/25/19 at NJAEYC.org/events or by mail

Come join us as we kick off the New Year with a morning of fun & learning that will help you learn how to provide the best possible learning environment to meet the needs of all children. Hands on learning sessions will highlight best practices in health and safety. Resource tables will provide a wide variety of helpful information. The conference will include snacks, door prizes and a brief membership meeting – don’t miss this chance to learn while you network with your colleagues.

Conference Schedule:

8:00 – 8:30 am –   Registration and Coffee
8:30 – 8:45 am –    Opening Address and Membership Meeting
8:45 – 9:45 am –    Session A
9:45 – 10:45 am –  Session B
10:45 – 11:45 am – Demonstration and Resource Tables, Snack
11:45 – 12:45 pm – Session C
12:45 – 1:00  pm – Closing Address and Door Prizes

Certificates for up to 4 professional development hours will be provided.

Grow NJ Kids programs please note:
Some workshops may help you meet GNJK training requirements. You will see the GNJK standard number listed after appropriate workshops. Please check with your director regarding your professional development plan.

Pamala A. Brooks Scholarship Award

Congratulations, Samara Florexil!

Pamala A.Brooks Scholarship in Early Childhood Education Recipient…..

Samara is currently studying at Kean University majoring in Early Childhood Education and Sociology. She is a part of Kappa Delta Pi Honor Society in Education and loves to volunteer – especially for the kids. Her teaching philosophy is to help students understand that their identity and background makes a difference in how they learn and experience the world around them. Samara would like to teach in an urban area to give back to the communities from her childhood. She currently holds a Substitute Certification in New Jersey and speaks Creole & French. Samara looks forward to a May 2018 graduation.
